Ali stared at the crystal ball at first in a skeptical manner at first but then soon as a look of surprise as the crystal ball glowed bright before showing an image of a younger Aladdin stealing coin purses from a crowd gathered in the marketplace.
It of course didn't show him what happened later on of Aladdin feeling guilty and giving back the money as that was not what the thief intended to show him.
