OOC: And here I thought kit was the only term for baby foxes only lol. Ya learn something new everyday
BIC: Just the very thought of that sweet innocent memory of young Terry as a small kit getting all messy made Judy smile slightly. "He always did enjoy being the little messy mischief when he was little, didn't he?" She responded with a small light-hearted chuckle and wiped the fallen tears from her cheeks, thinking of all of the times she and Nick having their paws full while raising their son when he was growing up, especially when Terry used to go through a phrase of ear pulling and tail biting a lot, but that was a very long time ago, it was almost hard to believe that so much time had passed since then.
Even though Judy felt a little bit better thanks to her husband's sweet comfort and reflecting back on those sweet memories, still it was pretty easily to tell to see the deeply concern in her eyes. "You know something? As much as this pains me to say this, but...maybe this is just more than finding some missing parent for Dallas, maybe....just maybe, Terry is only using this mission to help find himself I think, I just hope he finds what he's looking for at the end by the time this is over...."
====================================================================================================================
Unknown to Terry and Dallas, a cat had secretly been spying on them back at the gas station, but that was a few days ago only to have lost sight of the young male feline by now. Meanwhile, the two fugitive teens still continue on their search, but so far no with no luck in finding Dallas' missing father. Until that very night, while Dallas was still driving keeping his eyes on the road, Terry awoken up from his sleep in a snap. "AAH!" He yelped.
His sudden cry nearly had Dallas broke outta his focus, almost having the van to skid to a interrupted halt. The boar set his foot down on the break pedal. "Geez Wilde, that's the 8th time this week you've done that!!" Dallas spoken crankily at the hybrid; whenever the hybrid wasn't lost into his deep slumber howling tunes, he would have nights of having bad dreams that would cause him to wake up and bolt in a scream. "What gives?" The boar added, still not pleased at all.
"Ohh sorry Dallas, it's this weird dream I keep on having." Terry replied, rubbing his head. "Everynight, it's always the same thing; there I am all alone by myself when suddenly there's this animal, a predator I think, lurking in the dark shadows. It's hard to get a view of his face, but I do remember his eyes, one of them being blind I think."
"Yeah no one cares Wilde." Dallas rolled his eyes, not interested at all to care what sort of excuse the fox/rabbit hybrid was cooking up and set his foot on the pedal next to the breaks and continued on with the driving. Terry yawned and rubbed the sleepyness outta his eyes. "Where are we at?" He asks Dallas, taking notice that they seem to be at some sort of snowy location.
"I'm not sure, but it does reminds me of Tundratown back in Zootopia, but this district looks like it's been abandoned for--" Dallas was saying, but was cut off shortly when noticing the hybrid squinting his eyes. "Wilde?" The boar could tell that the hybrid was using his night vision spotting something ahead of them, or someone. "What is it?" Dallas try again, still not getting a response from Terry.
Terry's eyes quickly widen once I saw who the figure in the dark was. "Dallas stop the van!" He ordered.
"Huh!?" Dallas caught a glimpse of who it was, and hit the breaks. The animal that the hybrid had spott happened to be a boar simply just passing his way through, pushing a shopping cart carrying what used to be a lot of old junk. The boar, whose name was Darryl, squeal in fright and quickly took cover by ducking down with his hooves on top of his head when the van didn't stop, but luckily it had.
"Hey watch where you're going, you crazy--" Darryl began to scold, until he saw who the driver was; none other than his own son. "Dallas?" He blinked in surprise.
"DAD!" Dallas cried, getting outta the van and rushed right towards his father, giving him a big hug. After not seeing his own father for 4 long years, the young boar was relived to be reunited with him again. Darryl didn't return the hug back to his son, as he was actually surprised to have been found. "Son what are you doing out here?" He asks him after being released from the hug.
"I should be asking you the same thing!" Dallas demanded bitterly with his arms crossed; the young boar had almost half expected to be finding his father's kidnapper first, but much to that shock, he was just glad that his father was not harm at all. "How exactly were you able to escape from your kidnapper?"
"Kidnapper? Son I haven't been kidnapped." Darryl had quickly revealed.
"WHAT!?! But we--" Dallas began, but stop when the sound of Darryl's iphone was buzzing in.
"Just a sec." Darryl told him, turning around with his back facing his son and taking out his cell phone from his right pocket. He didn't check at first to see if it was a phone call or a video chat, so assuming that perhaps it was just a simple voice to voice kind of call, Darryl tap on the green button and held it close to his ear. "Hello?"
"Video chat Darryl!!" The caller corrected him.
"Oh sorry!" Darryl laugh nervously, moving the cell away from his ear and looking to see who it was; It just so happened to be two polar bear twins by the name of Robbie and Bobbie. Even though they were twins, they wear different color of clothes to make it more easier for other animals to tell them apart; Robbie wore a yellow shirt while his twin brother Bobbie wore a red shirt, and unlike his his twin brother Robbie, Bobbie had a mole on his lower right cheek.
So Darryl gave out a quick greeting to the twins once he saw them onscreen. "Robbie, Bobbie! How's my favorite polar bear twins?"
"Darryl, where have you been?" Bobbie asks. "You were supposed to be back here 2 hours and 45 minutes ago!"
"I uhh...." Darryl try to think of a quick response, so he looked over his shoulder for about one second, noticing his son waiting impatiently with him. "I seem to be a little bit sidetrack at the moment." He replied, keeping all eyes focus on the video chat so the polar bears wouldn't be able to tell that something was up.
"Well you better be hurrying on up, you know that Jonathan is not a patient guy." Robbie warmed him.
That was when a loud voice was heard in the background on their end. "IS THAT DARRYL?! WHERE THE HELL IS THAT BOAR!!?!?" He screamed.
"Uh gotta go, bye." And with that, they both hung up. Darryl signed and put his cell phone away into his pocket, wondering how on earth he was going to explain to them about being found by his son. It only took the hybrid's appearance to get him out of his concern soon as Darryl took notice of Terry getting out of Dallas' van. "So whose this Jonathan guy?" Terry asks Dallas' father.
"I bet he must be one the one who kidnapped you." Said Dallas, also taking in full belief about this Jonathan person being the kidnapper.
"Look, Jonathan is not a kidnapper, he's my boss. And--" Darryl try to fully explain, but it was hard to do with Terry now joining them. "Uhhhh...what are you exactly?" Darryl asks directly towards Terry.
"You mean if I'm a prey or predator?" Terry asks, not fulling understanding the boar's question. "Ummm my parents and I are still trying to figure that part out."
"Ugh!" Dallas rolled his eyes in annoyance. "He's a hybrid dad! Haven't you ever seen one before?"
"A HYBRID!?!?" Cried Darryl by surprise. He grabbed Terry by his bunny ears and held him up high to get a better and closer look at Terry.
"Oh....I guess he has seen one before." Dallas mutter underneath his breath, although he never thought he seen his own father grab a firming hold of a hybrid just to make sure and see if he was the real thing.
"HEY PUT ME DOWN!!" Terry yelled, doing his best not to growl though.
"Shut up and hold still." Darryl told him. "Hmmm let's see....rabbit ears, fox tail. Two different color eyes, rabbit paws and rabbit feet, a fox face with a shorter muzzle, and fur with mixed colors? Yeah you're definitely a fox mixed with bunny all right!" He added, then finally set the hybrid back down on the ground gently.
"Yeah, thank you for clearing that up." Terry dryly says sarcastically in a 'duh' like manner.
Darryl stroke his boar chin. "Hmm funny, I've seen animals born with heterochromia iridium before, but never on a hybrid. That's interesting." He says.
Terry shrugged his shoulders like it was no big deal for him. "Funny you say that, because the doctors thought of the same thing too after I was deliver at the hospital....at least that's what my mom says; minus away the interesting comment. You see, my mom's eyes are a violet purple color, and my dad's eyes are an emerald green, so you see that's how I got the--"
"Blah blah blah!" Dallas rudely responded, ending the chit-chat right away. "We don't have time for this! Let's get out of here and back to the city!"
But before Terry or even Darryl could have any word back to Dallas, Darryl's cell phone rang again. "Err one second." He took a few steps away from his son and the hybrid so he could keep the phone call a bit more private; this time he check his cell to see if it was going to be another video chat again, but it wasn't. This time, the polar bears twins were contacting him through an actual voice call.
Therefore, he answer it. "What?" He asks this time instead of having the usual hello greet.
"Darryl, Jonathan found out we called you and he's sending us to pick you up." Said Robbie.
"WHAT!?!?!" Darryl cried out loud. "But-but-but-"
"Don't go anywhere! Just stay where you are!!!" Bobbie said next.
"BUT--" And that was when they hung up on him; again. "ARUGH! I'm doom!!"
"What seems to be the problem?" Terry asks the boar.
Darryl sighed in defeated. "It's my boss, he's sending out his stupid goons to me pick up."
"Good! I'd say let them come." Dallas said angrily, forming a fist with one hand and punching the open palm with the other hand.
"No son, it's a bad idea! You wouldn't want to mess with Jonathan and his gang. They're bad news." Darryl disagreed by shaking his head, by placing his hand on his son's shoulder. "Even worse....if you're a hybrid." He added, turning his concerned glance over to Terry.
Terry didn't need to hear anymore explanation since he got a clear idea what those last words of his meant. "You mean...."
"Yeah I'm afraid so." Darryl nodded. "If my boss finds out there's a hybrid in my presence, he'll do whatever he can to kill you and he hates hybrids!"
"Geez and I thought getting bullied and pick on was worse!" Terry thought to himself, now already concern for his own life, wishing that he had never left home in the first place if it meant that there was a hybrid murderer on the loose.
Darryl ponder on what to do; surely he knew he had to do something to keep Jonathan from getting a hold on the poor innocent young hybrid. Then, he found himself coming up with an idea. "I got it!" He smile with just the snap of his fingers. "You're part bunny right? It just so happens I found a white bunny costume earlier today. It's with the rest of my supplies I was sent to pick up." He tells him and with that, rushes over to his shopping cart.
"A bunny costume?" Terry's ears droop low, believing that maybe Darryl was joking. "You're kidding right?"
"Ta-da!" Darryl says with a grin, and gives the costume to Terry. "And look, it comes with fake rabbit teeth. Here, put them on!"
"Ewww I'm not dressing up in this!" Terry told him, thinking that the boar's plan was down right stupid. "This is an insult to rabbits everywhere!"
"You want to live don't you? So I suggest you wear it!" Darryl told the fox/bunny hybrid firmly. Terry growled muttering something underneath his breath as he took the costume with him and headed straight behind the van to change. He switch outta his clothes and put on the costume, which much to his surprise, was a good fit, still it almost had him questioning why Dallas' father would go carrying the costume around unless it was for some kind of dress up party. After he was done, he slipped back on his regular clothes and put the fake rabbit teeth into his mouth.
"This is ridiculous, no one is going to believe I'm a real purebred bunny!" Terry said after he step out and show the two boars his disguise.
"He's right dad. Unless you paint his face to match the same color as his disguise." Dallas had pointed out the big old obvious thing.
"Hmm....perhaps you may be ri--" Darryl was going to agree with his son, until he notice something on the hybrid's forehead he had not seen before; a small birthmark in the shape of a fox pawprint. "What is that?" Darryl questioning, pointing to the little small marking.
"Oh this? It's my birthmark. I've had it since the day I was born." Terry answered.
"Yeah Dallas is right, we need to cover it up." Darryl told him and return back to the shopping cart and found a can of white paint and a paintbrush. "Now hold still, this won't take long." He tells him. He cover up Terry's face all with the white paint, and since now Terry look like a white bunny, still it felt like something was missing. To finish up the last touch, Darryl got another can of paint, this time with brown, and painted a brown spot on Terry's right eye to make it look like an eyepatch.
"And there, all done! Now you look like a real bunny." Darryl says with a bit of smile, all pleased with his work and the store the paint cans away back into his cart.
"I don't still see how this is going to fool anyone." Terry tells him.
"For once, I might have to agree with the hybrid. Even a small kit would be able to tell that that's a costume he's wearing." Dallas nodded, as well as agreeing with Terry on that too.
Right on cue, a vehicle was approaching them, signaling them with a honk. "Ah, right on time!" Darryl fully recognized the car belonging to Robbie and Bobbie, the polar bear twins. The car came to a stop, and the twins step out, they were a bit surprise to find the boar in the company of two teens.
"Who are these kids?" Bobbie asks, pointing a finger at Terry and Dallas.
"Oh them? This is my son Dallas and his friend."
"Psst hey bob?" Robbie tapped his twin brother's shoulder, getting his attention and the two of them turned their backs so they can whisper among to each other. "Were these the two fugitives the boss send that cat out to find?" He asks with his voice low so Terry, Dallas and his father Darryl wouldn't have to hear them.
Bobbie took a check double check over his shoulder just to make sure if they were the ones. "Nah, it wouldn't be. One of them was a hybrid remember?" He reminded his brother.
"AHEM!" Dallas clear his throat to gain the polar bears' attention. He didn't care if they were much more bigger than them due to them being highly dangerous predators to them, but the stubborn young boar wasn't afraid of them. "If you two are done sharing secrets to each other, I wanna meet this boss of yours face to face! I have a little bit of something he'll want to see."
"Err excuse me Dallas, what do you think you're doing?" Darryl whispers to his son, wondering what was it he was talking about.
"Relax dad, I know what I'm doing. Just a little switching deal if you know what I mean." Dallas replied back, also whispering too as well.
"No I don't know what you mean!" Darryl hissed, not liking how this is going.
"Alright fine, we'll take you to him." Robbie tells them.
"This your van?" Bobbie asks Dallas, pointing over to the van belonging to the boar. If the teen did in fact claim he had something for their boss, chances are it would be inside of the van.
"Yeah!" Dallas nodded.
"Then follow us." Robbie inform them all, with his brother following behind him. And since Dallas' van only held two people in there, Darryl had to be seated inside of Robbie and Bobbie's car along the whole way of the ride. So after Dallas and Terry got back inside of Dallas' van, they follow right behind the twins and Dallas' father leading the way.
They lead them back to an very old and rusty large big building that looked like a hotel or a mansion that has been abandon for many many years. It wasn't at all what Terry or Dallas had in mind if Dallas' father Darryl did claim that he was working for a boss by the name of Jonathan as well as the rest of his gang too. After all of them had gotten outta their vehicles, the polar bear twins order for them to stay outside and wait so they can fetch up their boss.
Dallas wanted to go inside and face the guy responsible for keeping his father away from him for 4 years, but Darryl had stop him from going. Terry fully on ignored the two boars having a bit of their small argument from one to another as he try to picture what this Jonathan character might look like. Terry hurry on back over to the two boars' side when he heard footsteps coming, as the two boars also kept quiet too.
The first ones who show up were Robbie and Bobbie. "The boss is ready to see you now." The two bears separated from each other, allowing their boss to come forward. Much to Terry's shocking surprise, the boss that Darryl and the twins were working for happened to be an old fox. The old fox wore grey pants, a blue turtleneck long-sleeved sweater, and a black jacket. His right ear was notched, and while it was strange to see an old fox wearing a pair of sunglasses at this time around of night, the very noticeable thing about him was that the left side of his face was covered up in an old worn black bandaged cloth that seem to look like some type of oversize thick scarf.
"That's him?! That's their boss!? He's a fox! Terry couldn't help but think to himself, but could not hide his shocked reaction. For a boss, Terry had pretty much expected a tough boss to be much more bigger like most criminal animals he would see from the television shows and the movies played on TV, so the last thing he would've expected to find would be a fox.
Jonathan lit up a cigarette with his right paw with a lighter in his left paw. "You're late!" He spoken directly towards Darryl.
Darryl swallow a bit of a nervous gulp. "Mister J, I am so sorry for the--"
"SHUT UP BOAR!!" Jonathan commanded viciously at him, until he quickly had taken notice of the two teens behind the boar. "Who are they?"
"Oh they're no one really, I--" Darryl spoken up quite nervously, but Dallas have had enough and decided to do all of the talking for once as he stepped forward. "That there you have is my dad and I've been looking everywhere for him for the last 4 years!" Dallas shouted, glaring at Jonathan. "So you better let my dad go or else I'm going to give you the worst beating you've ever felt in your life!"
Jonathan show no emotion to Dallas' threat, but since he did in fact insulted him and to show that he means personal business, he caught Dallas off guard by pulling out a gun, facing it right in front of the boar's face. "You wanna run that by me again? Go on, I dare you!" Jonathan threatened the young boar teen coldly. "Let's see how tough you are the next time with no mouth running when I blow off your brains out!"
Fearing for his son's life, Darryl step in the middle in between, guarding his son from his boss. "Mister J please, he's my son! Surely, you wouldn't go in murdering a child now would you?"
Jonathan didn't have to answer Darryl's question, but to show that the boar was correct, the fox lower his gun down and put it away.
"Oh thank you sir, thank you!!" Darryl was relieved and he shook Jonathan's paw, which didn't sit out too nicely for him.
"Don't touch me!" He growled, moving his paw away from the boar.
"Sorry sir!" Darryl nervously apologize, backing away from him.
It had seem to Terry that these so called gang members who were working for Jonathan seem to have fear him. And who can blame them? After having a gun being pointed at their face, anyone could be afraid of this crazy lunatic. Curiously as to why the old fox was even bother wearing an old black cloth to be covering the left side of his face, Terry lightly tapped on Darryl's arm. "Psst hey, why is the left side of his face cover up? Did he get into an ugly knife fight with somebody?" He asks him softly with his tone down.
"WHOSE TALKING!?!?" Jonathan yelled when he overheard somebody whispering.
"Uh he did!" Dallas answered by shoving Terry towards him.
"Oh thanks a lot you dumb boar!" Terry glared at the boar, before coming face to face with the scary crazy fox. Jonathan removed his sunglasses to get a closer and better view of the kid in front of him. Strangely enough, Jonathan look very much like a much more older version of Terry's father Nick, expect the only difference was the eye color since Nick's eye colors are green and Jonathan's eyes colors are blue.
"Aren't you a bit tall for a bunny?" Jonathan asks Terry. Given how Terry was more taller than his mother Judy, but a little bit more shorter than his father Nick, his height was somewhere in between, so the hybrid in disguise can see how this would be a tab bit suspicious given how foxes are normally taller than bunnies.
"I uhh...had a bit of a growth spurt growing up." He tells him, even if there wasn't much to say after that. "It's commonly rare in bunnies."
Jonathan snapped his fingers as a commanding signal for his fellow polar bear twin workers. Robbie brought him a small ash tray so the fox can put out his cigarette while Bobbie handed a small pack of breath mints. After he was done smoking and pop a single breath mint into his mouth, he began to figure out why the two teens' mission. "So let me get this straight; you kids came all the way out here from err--wherever you're both from, just you can removed Darryl away from here? No can do, not gonna happened!"
"We thought you might say that." Dallas told him. "Which is why we didn't came here empty handed. We brought you a trade."
"A trade?" Jonathan repeated, raising an eyebrow at him.
"Yeah that's right, you heard me. A trade; it's waiting in the back of my van."
"Robbie, Bobbie. Scan the van!" Jonathan commanded with the snap of his fingers, pointing his index finger at the young boar's van.
"Yes sir!" And that's exactly what they did; opening the doors to the back of the van, they found two sacks of cash. The twins both opened it, staring in awe at the money that was in there; cash and jewels.
"Boss, take a look at this! Real money!!!" Bobbie says excitedly, showing him the full sack.
"Hmm so it is." Jonathan smirked, picking up a single small diamond out of the bag, taking a full good look at it.
"Dallas, where did you get all of the money from?" Darryl asks his son.
"Simple dad, we stole it." Dallas replied.
"YOU WHAT!?!?" Darryl cried in shock.
"Is that right?" Jonathan couldn't help but overhear what he had just heard. "You hear that boys? We've got ourselves two young thieves. I must say, I'm impressed." He grinned.
"So how about it?" Dallas asks walking right up to the fox. "I'll trade you the money for my dad if you promise to release him. Have we got ourselves a deal?" He added by offering him a handshake to seal up the deal.
"How about mmmm....no?" Jonathan responded sneaky like.
"WHAT? NO!?!?" Dallas cried.
"Yes that's right, you heard me. I said no!" Jonathan replied with a smug look on his face. "But tell you what; you work for me and then maybe I'll decide later whether or not to release you and your father. Deal?"
"NO! NO DEAL!" Dallas shouted at him. "Do you have any idea how long it took me to get this money without getting caught?!?! A full year!"
"Well then you're just going to have to try more harder now will you?" Jonathan says with a sly grin. "Sorry kid, but as long as you're in my gang, you and your precious daddy aren't going anywhere!"
Dallas tighten up his fist in anger. "WHY I OUTTA--" He was about to deliver a good old socking punch to the face at the fox, but his father stop him by taking a firm hold of his son's fist. "Son, we have a LOT to discuss." Darryl glared his son, showing his utter disappointment at him.
But Jonathan shook his head. "No time for that Darryl, we've got a big day of full work tomorrow remember?" He reminded him. "So off you go, and take your boy with you too." He added, watching the father boar and his son retreat back indoors until they were out of sight. That was when the fox took notice of Terry trying to tip-toe his way out of there quietly to escape, but got caught red-handed by the old fox.
"Not so fast there long ears." Jonathan stop Terry right away. "Don't think for one whole entire second I'm letting you off the hook."
"Look in my defense, I was only trying to do the right thing by helping out that stupid boar." Terry commented by staying put with his arms crossed to his chest. "So what makes you think I would be interested in working for you?" He added by testing the old fox.
"Awww what's the matter? Is the cute wittle fluffy bunny scared? Haha!" Jonathan taunted the young teen with a laugh.
Feeling the sense of getting teased at, Terry let out a soft growl, which cause the fox to stop laughing. "Did you just growl at me? Bunnies can't growl!" Jonathan said, his right eye widen by surprise.
"No!" Terry objected. "And for the record, I'm not afraid of anything!"
"Nice try there kid, but everyone's afraid of something." Jonathan pointed out the obvious fact.
"Oh yeah? Even old sensitive guys like you? I bet you're not as tough as you say." Terry says, even testing him more.
"Don't believe me? Okay then, hit me!" To prove that he was indeed tough, he decided to see if Terry had the guts for it takes to be bold.
"WHAT!?!? Are you nuts? I'm not going to punch an old man!" Terry insisted that he rather not, clearly the fox was far too crazy, even more so to show that he wanted to dare pick a fight with him.
"Alright suit yourself, I guess you're too cowardly to do it." Jonathan stuffed his hands down onto his pockets, pretended to give up as he turned around a slow step forward until he let out one final comment at Terry without even glancing at him. "Wimp!"
"GRRR!!" That finally did it; with that last no good insulting remark, Terry lunges right at Jonathan behind his back, but the fox knew he had that one coming, so he moved outta the way in time, in which the poor kid made a rough landing.
"Haha! Did you think I was too slow to notice?" Jonathan ridicule him for his missed hit. But Terry would not give up without a fight. He got himself up from the ground, and try to take another swing at Jonathan, but the fox kept on dodging him. It went on for a bit for several moments, until Jonathan caught Terry by surprise by grabbing him from the fist he try to punch him with, turn him around and push him away, which had Terry landing roughly onto his stomach back on the ground. Jonathan had his foot pinned down on Terry's back.
"Not bad kid." Jonathan smiled, please to see that the teenager was no quitter.
"It was a lucky shot." Terry coughed and glared up at the old fox. Sad to say, he was a bit embarrassed he got defeated by the elderly, but that wouldn't stop him from trying again if he had the strength to continue on, but he was tired out.
Both the polar bear twins had witness the whole thing, it was quite a shock to see their old boss forming what look to be some kind of bond by playful fighting. Bobbie was the first one to clear up his throat. "Ahem! Umm...boss?" He spoken up, trying to gain Jonathan's attention.
"Hmm? Oh right!" Jonathan help Terry up to his feet. "What's your name kid?" He asks.
"Terry."
"Terry? Is that it or is there a last name to go with that?" Jonathan asks if there's more to his full name. Terry had to think it out carefully if he should give out his last name or not, but then thought it might not be a good idea at all to tell him, so he used his mother's maiden name. "Hopps. Terry Hopps the second."
"The second?" Jonathan repeated in confusion.
"Yeah I was named after my great-uncle from my mother's side of the family." Terry sum it up more clearly.
"Robbie, Bobbie. Find Mitchell for me, and tell our young feline friend he's found himself a new roommate." He order them right away.
"Yes sir!" They obey immediately and headed inside of the building to go find the cat.
"WHAT!?!? It's already bad enough I had to be away far from home to help Dallas find his father, and now you're forcing me to share a room with a....a feline?" Terry says in disbelief. Even though he already hated the idea of sticking around with the fox and his gang, it sounded like staying with one of his fellow crew members was now even more worse.
"Relax kid, Mitchell's around the same age as you. But changing the subject real quick, where exactly are you from?" Jonathan asks Terry as the two of them were walking back inside of the building.
"I'm from Zootopia." Terry tells him.
"Zootopia?" Jonathan repeated, stopping in his tracks.
"I haven't been to Zootopia in years." He thought to himself, lost in thought about the marvelous city. The very place where anyone can be anything.
"Yeah why? You sound surprise." Terry commented, wondering what that reaction was all about. Then again, according to his father, Nick knew just about everyone there at Zootopia, so was it possible that maybe somehow Nick might have also knew about Jonathan as well? And if so, why hasn't Terry seen him around? Judging by the awkward silence, it sounded like Jonathan once used to live at Zootopia a long time ago long before Terry was born.
However, he never got his answer from him when Robbie and Bobbie returned, this time by bringing Mitchell with them. "Ah, there you are Whiskers." Jonathan greeted the small brown cat, and gave the two young boys a proper introduction. "I'd like you to meet your new roommate. This is long ears, long ears meet Whiskers."
"Uhh you do realize that this is a cat right? And my name isn't long ears, it's Terry." Terry corrected the fox. When he was told that Mitchell was a feline, he expected a much more larger type of feline such as a tiger or a lion for example, not a small simple little cat. And of course, Terry was not too thrilled about it either given that foxes, cats and bunnies were natural enemies, but because Terry was a cross between a fox and a bunny hybrid and in disguise as well, still being around a cat was no acceptation for him.
"Whatever! Now you boys play nice, but don't stay up too late. We've got a big day ahead of us tomorrow and remember, breakfast is at 8am sharp so be up bright and early, and don't expect me to catch you slacking around you got that?" Jonathan officially let them the boys know right away before heading off on his own. "Light's out!"
"Ugh, at this point I'd rather be sharing the same room with Dallas rather than some cat." Terry thought to himself as he rolled his eyes, watching Jonathan leave until he was actually gone before turning over to glance down at the cat, not interested at all and could care very less. "Let's just get this over with." But since Terry did not have the knowledge to know his way around the building, he would let Mitchell lead them to their room they would have to share together. "Lead the way kitty."
Meanwhile, Jonathan headed upstairs and down the empty hallway and inside of his office, in which he also used as the same room to sleep at. He closed the door behind him after entering in, took off his jacket and hung it up on the coat rack. Next, he went to his couch which happened to be a bed built inside (a sofa bed if you will) by opening it up and fixing it up nicely. Even though it wasn't exactly what you would called the perfect bed, but it was certainly better than sleeping on the floor or at a desk. After he was finished, he sat down and took off his sweater. From there, it was revealed he had a long birthmark in the shape of a long body fox located on his shoulder.
Jonathan let out a yawn and stretch out his arms, only then to be rubbing his other shoulder and grunting a little. The poor old fox was tired after a long day, and when he saw his reflection at the big mirror just across from him, the only thing he could see was that he hated himself.
"Look at you....stuck with these dumb losers for a long time." He sighed sadly and flopped right down onto his sofa bed, staring up at the ceiling above him. "Tomorrow's another day...." He told himself softly.
"...another day of being the boss, telling these idiots what to do...." It was quite stressful, he had to admit. Sometimes he had his moments where he would forget how he ended up here in the first place and would have to mentally reminded himself for it; it has been so many years, there were times where he fear he would one day lose his mind. He hated where he was.
"If there's one thing I wish I still had with me, it would be...." He had to stop himself right there at that thought when he knew what it was he was thinking of.
"My family..." Turning his head over, he remembered an old family photo he had at his desk. Jonathan got up from the bed and went over to the desk, pick up the family picture and return back to his sofa bed and sat down, staring at the sweet old family photo that was of him when he was very young, alongside with him was his wife and his son from when he was a small young cub. He ran his paw lovingly through the old family picture. There was not a single night where he did not think about his loved ones; his wife, his son. The very family he wished he could return back to if he had the chance. "I miss you both so much, but I promise someday we will cross paths again soon....one day." And with that, Jonathan returned back to laying down on the sofa bed, closing his eye as he drift off to sleep while holding the family photo in his arms, close to his heart.
