Yeah, I honestly thought I wasn't going to like it that much because of the trailers and the like not really capturing my attention either, but I just saw it on demand. I was very pleasantly surprised and loved it. <3

I remember seeing "Brave" in theaters back when it came out last June. I got to say that I thought it was quite good, despite some of the harshness of several critics out there (which I heard about from other people I know).
I don't even get why some critics were being harsh to it; granted, this film is different from any film Disney/Pixar has done before, but maybe that is why that harshness is there. It's like they thought it had a different tone than the type Disney/Pixar is often associated with (even I thought at times it was made by a different studio, like Dreamworks). They might also think that it isn't that original or new; I thought it seemed original of a movie, even if it seemed to have tiny sprinkles of a few concepts from "Brother Bear," "Robin Hood" and "How to Train Your Dragon" all rolled into one.
On it's own, though, there are a lot of things about the movie that still work. The animation, of course, is really impressive, even in the 3D format. The script is handled really well in mixing in enough of the variety of emotions the audience is supposed to feel (like humor, scariness, sadness and joy), which Disney/Pixar often does well at.
I'd say give it a watch. ^^

Wow so no one thought the movie wouldn't be good because of how the trailers and previews were shown? Not me! That didn't effect me at all. But while the movie was still good, I still think it was too much of a female version of Brother Bear.
Expect nobody stays a bear forever in this one. Maybe it would of work out better if Elinor turn into a different animal. Just not a bear, because we've seen how that turn out for Kenai in Brother Bear, only the endings play out differently.

the whole bear things go with ancient culture legends like the Inuits and Scottish. i don't care if it resembled brother bear or any other film because it still stands out fine on it's own

I Felt when I saw the trailors, just didnt apeal to me. Then when it came to dvd, I wanted to check it out after hearing good things about it. I think least for me one of those movies is better then the trailors make out to be.
Bear thing was interesting, Like Katie said it was part of thier culture back then. =)
