This character has a weird story. She actually is an original character I produced from a contest to come up with a whole story based upon characters made in the disney heroine character generators, and I did come up with a whole story I'd like to write someday. However, I'm working on other book projects more, and I don't get to use her much so..Heck, I thought why not try and make some fancharish form?
I'm not sure what rps I could even begin to fit her in, but...Doesn't hurt to make the bio, right? Also yes, she's kinda a self insert. That was part of the contest. XD But absolutely we have differences and all that jazz.
--------------
Name: Amber Harper
Age/b]: 23
Species: 100% human, baby!
Description: Pale skin, long dark-brown hair with blonde streaks, hazel eyes (dark green with a darker green ring around the iris, and a small circle of brown around the pupil that look gold or red when the sunlight and ONLY the sunlight is hitting them just right. There's nothing magical or special about them, no. Hazel eyes simply have the illusion of altering color in direct sunlight and sometimes even when you change clothing colors or makeup. They are not really changing, it's just a trick of the light.)
Clothing-wise, it changes haha. I'm not sure if I am expected to list out every bit of clothing she has, but.. She really likes mixing red and green with black, wearing skinny jeans or leggings with boots with buckles and belts (both heeled and flat), wearing oldschool fedoras, black eyeliner in a rockstar-heavy style, and eyeshadow that she feels 'compliments' her choice of main shirt. (like if she wears a red shirt, teal eyeshadow. Green shirt= pinkish red eyeshadow, grey and black=blue, so on and so forth.)
Personality: (HERE COMES A RAMBLEFEST!)
She's a total paranormal nerd who has her own little ghost hunting/investigating business, though most people aren't in huge demand for them or are skeptical by nature, and she doesn't have a lot of funds to travel abroad seeking cases, so...It's more like a hobby she only gets to indulge in sometimes.
Amber is a musician- not professional, also by hobby. She's good at piano, with over a decade of experience under her belt, and also good at percussion instruments, especially the mallet ones. She's dabbled in other instruments, but the only other one she really ever plays is the violin, and she doesn't have as much experience there, so it's not good playing, just noobish. But she dreams of being great at the violin too and being able to recreate the sounds she adores. Singing is definitely not her forte. Amber does kind of wish she was better at it, and sounded okay to actually sing for and share with people, but she knows her singing voice has a lot of problems and needs a lot of work before she should ever share it, and as a musician, she knows how much time it often takes to get good at something. This is discouraging to her of course, but she always sneaks in practices at the things she's not so good at when she can, and contents herself with pouring as much feeling as possible into what she IS good at, in the meantime.
She's a character who has her own way about her. She can come across more 'normal' to people if she wants, but can also just seem kind of unusual. She is interested in and likes the dark and macabre, but at the same time there are lines she draws and Amber is usually in a grey spectrum- not really shining holy light virginal pure and just innocent, but not super dark and trying to be overly gothic, edgy, or brooding. Just in-between! And while yes that's a fairly average place to be, she is a little darker than the average skeptical person in some ways, while also being lighter than some people in others. It's kind of hard for me to explain...She's at the status I'm at, and I'm not really sure how to explain it, but if you know me well enough then you know what I am talking about with Amber.
She has some interesting little quirks that many people would find laughable. On the musical end of the spectrum, dark rich organs and a beautiful dark rich violin can send a shiver up her spine and electricity through her body like there's no tomorrow. Music itself has a huge emotional impact on her and can speak to her in ways other things just can't, so feeling the emotion of a music and player and getting chills from it is not uncommon for her...but organs and violins of a certain beautifully eerie and dark quality can do it the easiest and the most. She is so easily entranced by the sounds of these instruments, one of the major reasons she wants to learn how to play the violin well. Amber just feels like she has a very musical soul, and some things definitely seem to reflect this.
Abandoned and creepy buildings also seem to cast a sort of siren spell on her, she just can't help but one to explore them. Especially if they are in any sort of disrepair or boarded up. Amber herself can't explain this at all, there's just a certain adventurous spirit seeing these things stirs within her, even if every horror movie ever made would tell you going into places like that is a horrible idea. Despite her fascination and appreciation for some dark things however, Amber isn't a total paranormal BA. She's very jumpy in the right circumstances, especially places she's not super familiar with, and though she loves the paranormal and ghost hunting, she is quite cautious at times, particularly when alone. Around other people she would put on a facade of bravery and step up to the plate, but on her lonesome she does get scared plenty and like anybody else has to work up the nerve to force herself to start walking toward where the creepy sounds are coming from, or the darkest place in a building. She wishes she wasn't so prone to the usual fears with everything she believes and experiences she's had in her life, but she's still this way.
She also is very against personally using things like ouija boards, tarot cards, and she can't stand graveyards. So yes, some things that seem like they'd be right up her alley aren't at all!
How is related to the storyline they go with: Well, I have a whole original story for her, but I won't ramble about that. As far as fandom stuff, I don't really know. I'm not even sure what disney or disney crossover role plays she would fit into. XD But I'm putting her here because she came from a DISNEY art style character generator, so...Yeah.
Rp example: (Well I haven't actually used her in a rp, so I'll have to use a quick drabble/oneshot I did.)
Amber's breath caught in her throat as the pervasive feeling of eyes upon her intensified. It was an unsettling sensation, particularly because she was the only living person in the entire building tonight. Fineas and Adney had long since gone home, refusing to spend much time in the old opera house they now owned after dark, ever since the legendary hauntings had intensified. The duo still maintained a skeptical front for the public eye, so as not to seem the silly, superstitious sort, but behind closed doors they had been 'converted'. It was hard not to be, the young woman reflected, given the sort of bold activity this place echoed with. This was only her first night here after overhearing the manager's plight while doing volunteer work and volunteering for a whole new sort of job, and already she had been jostled out of bed by the unmistakable sound of a violin.
The sound had been entrancing; rich, deep, well-played, and dark- the sort of eerie, but beautiful wail she very much enjoyed hearing from that particular instrument. It had started out softly, reverberating throughout the building in a gentle, welcoming manner; almost pulling at her very soul like a siren spell... If it hadn't been for the fact nobody else was here. That truth had supplemented her awe with a healthy dose of fear, and for several minutes, Amber hadn't wanted to get out of bed at all. She had even toyed with the idea of concealing herself under the thin covers she had brought from home, and pretending like she hadn't heard anything at all in some desperate attempt to will it all away. It was silly, given her love of the paranormal and that she had offered up her ghost hunting services here, but the brunette just couldn't shake the initial, natural flickers of fear. It was a powerful, deeply ingrained reaction, and a tough habit to break.
It didn't help matters that one of the two ghosts had killed somebody in life. Even if it had been accidentally, which the various forms of the legends could never seem to agree on, it was something that sat heavily at the back of her mind. Especially now that she had finally mustered up the courage to get out of bed and explore the opera house, only for the sounds of the violin to dissipate the second she'd wandered into the room she was in now- the main auditorium. Amber was left with the distinct impression that her intrusion was quite unwelcome. Not only because the sounds of the phantom instrument had stopped altogether and not so much as even one pluck of a string had followed her entrance, but also because of the way the gaze felt. Curious, but also burning.
She could feel it watching her every move carefully, and each step further into the room she took, the atmosphere steadily grew more unnerving. The air grew thicker and colder, making the goosebumps that had broken out over her arms seem like they were going to become a permanent addition, and the energy-the sensation of eyes glaring, a presence- felt like it was getting closer with each passing second, but she couldn't pinpoint a location. One second it felt far away, the next on the stage, and then somewhere behind her...Like she was being toyed with and taunted.
The worst of it though was the silence, the absolute dead quiet all around; where she could hear the sound of her heart fearfully pounding away resonating loudly in her ears. It created an oppressive, menacing feeling, which caused a cold chill to slither up and down the young woman's spine. At this moment, she would have given anything to hear a sound again- the violin, a creak, heck even a terrifying bout of evil laughter would have helped! Something to focus on and keep her mind from terrified racing and musings would have been better than nothing, but it was the latter the spirit seemed intent on giving her. Amber knew it wouldn't last long, though. The silence was only the calm before the storm; the spirit's chance to toy with her and evaluate her reaction, or simply his chance to start drawing in energy with which to make a grand spectacle of himself. Something she was sure would scare her half to death, though she was still convinced the buildup and the fearful anticipation, were the worst parts of this 'job'.
Picture (if you can provide it): (I'm actually trying to remake the doll now that i found out there are PANTS on the site, so..xD I'll edit that in when I get it done.)
