Yeah your probably thinking why this is in the Disney category when it should be in the non-Disney category. Well to save the confusion for you guys, I'm not speaking about the live-action that ran for 7 years, I'm talking about the cartoon version that only lasted 1 season!
Yes, Sabrina the Animated Series which believe it or not, used to air on ABC and we all know that channel is owned by Disney, so yeah it kinda counts as a Disney show lemmie put that way for you.
We all know they're both different, but what's the two things they got in common? Well it's simple; in the cartoon version, they both kept Melissa Joan Hart in it, who as we all known is well famous for playing Sabrina, only the difference is in the animated kind, she's playing her aunts. If you listen closely, you can tell it's her voice. Also, the second thing the two shows have in common also is Nick Bakey as the role of Salem in both the shows. So that part for him hasn't exactly change. (If you recognize his voice, you'll remember him as Norbit from Angry Beavers.)
So why am I talking about this? Well for one thing, and I totally regret this, but I didn't watch the live-action version as much as everyone else did. So about two days ago when I was flipping around on Netflix, I came across the animated series which believe it or not used to be my favorite when it was on TV.
I guess I always like the animated version because, well...it's animated of course. And as everyone knows, I'm a huge sucker when it comes to cartoons lol!
I don't know why the cartoon version came out at the time when the live-action show was gaining more attention, I guess they wanted something for kids to look at. But sadly, it only ran for 65 episodes into where the live-action kind ran for 4 seasons!
And it is actually a very interesting choice they got Melissa Joan Hart's younger sister Emily to play Sabrina. Maybe not a lot of you remember, but Emily Hart has appear a few times in Sabrina the Teenage Witch before.
But here's a part where it gets really strange; while I was on Netflix, I found out that Sabrina the Animated Series got a spin-off called Sabrina's Secret Life which I didn't know really existed. I check out about only half an episode and the changes they made into that really weirded me out.
I think I'll just stick when the animated series while it's still around on Netflix. If the Teenage Witch version ever comes around, I'll see to it that I can try to catch up all of the episodes and seasons. It's strange because when the live-action used to be around, I would just tuned into the opening theme and that was all I can remember, I guess it was fun to watch a girl change into different outfits in front of the mirror, but that was in the earlier seasons.
I couldn't be able to understand why the opening intro change into something you expect out of a ordinary 90s teens sitcom, but hey! What can you do about it?
